This article over at Newsday suggests that the Phils have their eye on Raul Ibanez to fill their left field vacancy.
Ibanez, 37 next June, has hit very well each of the last seven seasons, averaging a line of .291/.352/.484 with Kansas City and Seattle. He doesn’t draw a walk as well as Pat, but he also doesn’t strike out as much and has OK power numbers.
The only caveats to this, of course, are Ibanez’s age and the fact that he may be an even worse fielding LF than Burrell. Plus, he’s another lefty bat that the Phils already have plenty of.
Hopefully, Ibanez is no more than Plan C.
