Well, he’s not Mark DeRosa, but utility man Mark Loretta is now on the Phillies’ radar as a short-term replacement for the ailing ones.
Loretta, 37 in August, hit .280/.350/.383 in 261 ABs with Houston last season. He’s a .297 career hitter, and is serviceable anywhere in the infield. Literally. Everywhere.

And with just 90 errors in more than 12,000 innings. That’s around 130 innings between errors for an entire career. I’ll take that, thank you very much.
Loretta would be a good fit. He’s aging, but he’s still got a good contact bat and is used to platooning or coming off the bench at this stage in his career.
Consider him my favorite to date for the utility vacancy.
