Dick Allen snubbed HOF entrance by Veterans Committee

Yet again, the former Philly great was denied by voters on the Veterans’ Committe.

A career line of  .292/.378/.534 with 351 HR and a 156 OPS+ in 6,332 ABs is still not good enough, apparently.

Only Joe Gordon from the pre-1943 ballot made it. Go compare the stats of Allen and Gordon. Taking nothing away from a solid career by Gordon, how does Allen not make it? How?

Clearly there is a bias against men with large glasses.

The Yankee writers have been irked for years that Bill Mazeroski got in so they mounted a well-funded behind the scenes campaign for Gordon. He’s such a household name and all-LOL.
