Well, we’re done for

Yeah, sadly. We won’t be repeating as champs. Hell, we won’t even win the division!

Don’t believe me? Ask my good pal Frankie Rodriguez, the new guy who just moved in next door. He’ll tell you!

Francisco Rodriguez has a message for the Philadelphia Phillies and the rest of the NL East.

“Of course, we’re going to try to win the division. Of course, we’re going to be the front-runner. Of course, we’re going to be the team to beat,” he said Saturday.

“I don’t want there to be a controversy or the other ballclubs in that division to take it personally or take it in a bad way,” he said. “If they ask me, ‘Oh, which ballclub is going to win the National League East?’ It’s going to be the Mets. Easy question.”

Look, this stuff is old. It really is. I was hoping no one, not even anyone from the Phils, would come out and stir up this nonsense again, but here we are.

Jimmy Rollins lucked out in the fact that what his big mouth promised actually came true, thanks to a lot of help from 20 or so other players.

For Carlos Beltran, mimicry didn’t work out so well. But it very well could have.

This guy thinks he can just waltz right in here and take charge of this rivalry, huh? Well, that’ll just make each and every blown save that much sweeter.

I realize these sorts of comments shouldn’t get any attention and they’re kind of dumb, but with the defending world champions in your division, wouldn’t THEY be the “obvious frontrunners” in the division?

I hate their offseason moves, but K-Rod’s comments don’t even make sense in Stupid Sports Platitude World

    Sounds logical enough to me.

I’m all for a rivalry, but what gravity does Rodriguez have to say this?
