Marson on his way to Colorado; Hamels’s next start in doubt?

Catching prospect Lou Marson is, in fact, on his way out to Denver to be with the Phillies as an injury contingency in case Carlos Ruiz can not play.

When news broke that Marson had been pulled from the starting lineup, this was a move to be expected.

UPDATE: Ruiz has been placed on the 15-day DL, and Chris Coste will assume the starting role. Marson will be the backup.

As for Cole Hamels, will his next scheduled start be in doubt? Hamels could be optioned to the minors to get his arm strength back up – something that should have been taken care of before his first start, even if it meant delaying that start longer – and get in Major League form. Keep your eyes peeled.

Sweet Lou! Now they just need to get Jason Donald to the big league club and my prospect man crush projects will all be in the Majors.

I think it makes sense to give Hamels some time to work himself into shape, especially since Optioning him is still a viable… option. It sure does suck to have crappy pitching and next to no hitting for the 100th opening week of April in a row though.
